Historical Connection: Gestapo

Gestapo

"These people are treated by the Gestapo without a shred of decency, being loaded into cattle trucks and sent to Westerbork, the big Jewish camp in Drente" (Frank 38).

The Gestapo were the secret state police in Nazi Germany that were known for their terrorist methods. The Gestapo were notorious for their harsh and barbarous behavior towards the Jews.

In this particular scene of  The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne is informed that her many Jewish friends are being taken away by the Gestapo to death, concentration, and labor camps. The Gestapo have no sympathy at all for the Jewish people, they just want all Jews dead.
